If you have carpet remnants left over from installation you can repair the damaged section with a patch.

Because the donor area is filled in either with a piece of remnant carpet or is left unrepaired carpet patching is considered to be imperfect but a net overall improvement.
If the patch is to be applied against a wall and the room has baseboard molding your two options are.
Next measure and cut the replacement patch.
Carpet patching is a simple system of carefully cutting out the damaged area and replacing it with a patch of donor carpet of the same size.
A remove the baseboard and reinstall it after laying down the carpet patch or b leave the baseboard in place and install the tack strip 1 4 away from the baseboard as described in the next step.
To patch carpet using a patch repair kit with adhesive disks first measure the damaged area of the carpeting and place duct tape around it.
Once you have the replacement piece ready slide the adhesive disk under the edges of the carpet.
If no remnants can be found cut a small portion of carpet from the back of a closet or other.
When done correctly this repair eradicates the damaged area with minimal or no evidence.
