Finish nails for cedar fence.
Another option for wooden fencing is to use coated nails that can help protect the metal from rust and corrosion.
These nails have circular rings on them which help them grip the fibers of the wood and staying locked into place even with the expanding and contracting of the wood.
For cedar redwood or pressure treated wood a 8d x 2 3 8 stainless steel nail is excellent for face nailing.
Galvanized staples are good for attaching wire fencing to fence posts.
Exterior screws are available with square and phillips heads that are less likely to strip.
Brad nailers are suitable for cabinetry and interior trim but the fasteners they shoot are too narrow and short to hold exterior fence boards which have a tendency to move and warp.
Larger nail heads provide more striking area while smaller heads are best for finishing.
Although stainless steel nails are suitable for both western red cedar and pine fences the most popular wooden fence materials the cost of stainless steel nails prevents them from being the most practical or suitable choice.
Anyone know if this will work.

Most coated nails are dipped in zinc though a galvanization process.
Spiral threaded and ring shanks provide extra holding power.
To help minimize warping and curling pickets use 6 d 2 inch ring shank nails made out of galvanized steel for one by four or one by six fence pickets.
Can i use my 16gauge finish nailer to put up my wood fence.
The galvanized steel is less expensive than aluminum but it has the potential to eventually corrode and is not recommended for cedar fences.
You can fit in nails from 2 to 3 inches and the magazine can fit in 55 nails at a time.
This has an anti dry fire feature so it won t fire when your magazine is getting low on ammo.
Some of the worst choices for nails include.
The head matches the texture of the wood and you can drive the nail flush without splitting the surrounding material.
This uses 21º plastic collated full head framing nails though it can work with any nail from 20º 22º.
I m pretty sure you ll need a heftier fastener solution for something like a fence.
That s a plus if you decide to use the nails with tongue and groove douglas fir porch flooring.
